`President's Barber' Opens Big

"Hyoja-dong Ibalsa (The President's Barber)", about an ordinary barber who comes to cut the hair of President Park Chung-hee, was the top choice for Seoul moviegoers over the weekend.
The film, starring Song Gang-ho as a barber whose life becomes intertwined with the politics of the 1960s and 1970s, was seen by 120,000 on Saturday and Sunday, according to Myung Film, the company behind the movie's promotion.
"Arahan", an action comedy about a group of Taoist superheroes out to save the world, came in second with 85,000 viewers over the weekend in Seoul. The film, which came in first last week, reached over 1.1 million total viewers nationwide on Sunday.
Third and fourth place in Seoul's box office were also taken by domestic films. "Pomjoe-ui Chaegusong (The Big Swindle)", about a bank scam that goes terribly wrong, was seen by 45,000 moviegoers in Seoul, while acclaimed director Hong Sang-soo's latest "Yoja-nun Namja-ui Miraeda (Woman Is the Future of Man)" brought in 38,000.
